Among the many students who gathered every Saturday at the Dunbar Memorial Garden, Hannah's presence was constant. As a friend to both Jesse and Josh she was protective of their memories, relentless in her determination to honor them, and a force to be reckoned with to any who might inadvertently cause any damage to our work area.

We lost our beautiful Hannah in a tragic car accident May 6, 2008.

Several of Hannah's friends, in an effort to honor her have created a website at www.hannahlanders.com (the site is currently undergoing changes so keep checking back!). As Hannah did, they are trying to find a positive way to use their creative energy to honor the life of their friend.

Hannah will be remembered as inimitable, exuberant, opinionated, intelligent, hard-working, and without pretension. From her incredible smile to her perfect freckled face - to those big sunglasses and the sparkle in her eyes, she will be sorely missed as we now continue work to honor her too. Of the many gifts Hannah bestowed on us, the greatest was her compassion. From her volunteer work with children in Lexington to her mission trip to Kenya, she believed in equity and fairness. She made this world a better place. A slide show of Hannah working at the garden may be viewed by clicking her photograph at right.

We will love you forever, Hannah. We will continue your work. We will never forget you. <3
