Publicly released in 2011 by the Kentucky Nonprofit Network, the Principles and Practices for Nonprofit Excellence provides specific guidelines for individual organizations to evaluate and improve their effectiveness.

As a Best Practices Partner, the Jesse Higginbotham Technology Trust pledges to use the KNN tools to promote and implement best practices that encourage efficient, effective and ethical operations to best meet community needs and to demonstrate transparency and accountability in our organization.

Among the practices we have or will soon implement:

• Adoption of policies including Conflict of Interest, Whistleblower, Document Retention and Destruction
• Promoting the work of and aligning with other Lexington Nonprofits
• Preparing and providing Annual Reports of our work
• Developing criteria to assist in the evaluation of our current and future projects
• Engaging and encouraging our supporters to become active participants and leaders in work that benefits our community through Kentucky nonprofit organizations
